Getting started

Install Dabbit, pick your first color.

  1. Download the DMG, drag Dabbit to Applications, open it. It lives in the menu bar.
  2. Press the pick shortcut (default ⌃⌥P) or click the menu bar mark. The first pick asks for Screen Recording access; grant it, or choose Apple’s sampler instead.
  3. Click to pick. The color is copied in your default format and added to Recent picks.

Inside the picker

  • Click picks, ⇧-click keeps picking, Esc cancels.
  • Space freezes the screen; arrow keys nudge by one pixel.
  • ⌥-scroll zooms, ⌘-scroll resizes the loupe. Plain scrolling scrolls the page underneath.
  • 1 3 5 set the aperture: one exact pixel, or a 3×3 / 5×5 average.
  • ⌥-click copies the color’s palette name instead of its value, if it’s in one of your palettes.
