# Automation

> Drive Dabbit from Shortcuts, launchers, scripts, or any app that can open a URL.

Dabbit registers the `dabbit://` URL scheme. Anything that can open a URL can start a pick, set a color, open a palette, or toggle the dock: Shortcuts, a launcher like Raycast or Alfred, a script, a link in your notes.

## URLs

| URL | Does |
| --- | --- |
| `dabbit://pick` | Start a pick. `?format=css-oklch` copies in that format; `&copy=0` skips the clipboard; `&palette=<id>` adds the pick to a palette |
| `dabbit://color/0d75ee` | Make that the current color. `?copy=1` copies it, `&format=` chooses how, `&open=1` opens the library on it |
| `dabbit://palette/<uuid>` | Open a palette in the library |
| `dabbit://extract?url=https://example.com` | New palette from that website's stylesheets. Without `url`, opens the image extractor |
| `dabbit://dock` | Show or hide the Color Dock |
| `dabbit://settings`, `dabbit://settings/formats` | Open Settings, optionally on a pane (`general`, `picker`, `formats`, `dock`, `color`, `library`, `license`, `about`) |
| `dabbit://open` | Open the library window |

Format ids are the built-in ones (`hex`, `css-rgb`, `css-hsl`, `css-oklch`, `swiftui`, `android-argb`, …) or a custom format's id, shown in its editor in Settings → Formats.

From a terminal: `open "dabbit://pick?format=css-oklch"`.

## Shortcuts and launchers

In Apple Shortcuts, an **Open URLs** action with one of the URLs above is all it takes. A "Pick as OKLCH" shortcut on a keyboard combo, or a Stream Deck button, is a one-action shortcut. Launchers such as Raycast and Alfred can open the same URLs from a quicklink or a script command.
